Gallbladder from undrained pig four days after ligation. The mucosa, which can just be seen in the upper left-hand part of the figure, shows partial loss. There is inflammation of the underlying muscle layer, whilst the subserosal region is markedly expanded with edema, lymphatic dilatation, formation of pre-granulation tissue and extensive acute inflammation.
